Survivor Wild Yeast Syrah launched at Carne on Kloof

Overhex International has a few aces up their sleeves, and I must say I was very pleasantly delighted by their wines at the launch of their 2017 Survivor Wild Yeast Syrah, which we tasted alongside an interesting group of international wines from France, Australia and the USA.
Ben Snyman, winemaker at Overhex, took us through the thinking of the presentation, as he spent time in the USA at Chalkhill wines - and was inspired by them and many others on his international trips. I am of the small group who is not a Chardonnay fan but I really enjoyed the 2017 Wild Yeast Chardonnay from the Survivor range.  The 2018 is to be released soon.

Carne is one of 3 restaurants owned by well known chef Georgio Nava, who supplies Dorper lamb, fine cuts of beef, and game from his Nieu Bethesda farm in the Karoo.  For the  carnivore this is a treat of note, with unusual cuts served alongside meaty mushrooms which were also a hit.
I found the Wild Yeast Syrah and the Survivor Pinotage to be very happy companions to the meaty lunch enjoyed by an eager media group,
