A little bit of Italy in the South African Winelands

I have heard someone describe the owners of Slent / Ayama as the Italian hearts farming on South African soil and this is not just in association with them farming artichokes. Attilio & Michela have embraced farming in the Paarl region; from inception of their maiden vintage that took place in 2005. The wine was named “AYAMA” – a Xhosa word meaning “someone to lean on” – as the owners believe their Slent adventure leans on friendship and love.

Make sure your credit card is charged when visiting Ayama, accommodation is available, festivals and events are regular, an array of wines are on sale not to mention their virgin olive oil from their own olive trees. Another exciting venture and a new addition is the Ayama stone mill - a uniquely hand-crafted jewel. Durum, Manitoba and other old Italian wheat varieties, freshly milled to flour, semolina and whole-wheat. Who can resist “a taste of the Paardeberg Lifestyle”
