Wild Dogs Big Hearts, Painted Wolf Wines

We often think about making a difference. After all, making a difference is a feel good matter and one that resonates with the kinder side of self.

Jeremy and Emma Borg take making a difference literally and through their brand Painted Wolf Wines associate themselves with the UK based Tusk Trust, Children in the Wilderness and the Endangered Wildlife Trust (EWT) in South Africa. Funds from each bottle sold are donated to these organisations for the conservation of the painted wolf (African wild dog) and to benefit rural children. Since 2007, Painted Wolf Wines has donated over R2.5million towards conservation projects. We decided to join Jeremy and Emma on a Wednesday evening for their tapas and wine evening held at their tasting room in Main road, Paarl. The space is intimate and comfortable and Jeremy eagerly explains his ethos behind each of the wines we tasted. Food is prepared by Sarina Human owner of Sit Cafe. We tried the pulled pork soft taco with corn, avocado and red cabbage priced at R 70 rand and the kale topped with pan fried beans and pecorino shavings for R 55. The food was well presented and totally delicious. On the wine side our new go to Chenin Blanc is Painted Wolf Wines, The Den Chenin Blanc and it will be for a while to come!
