wine.co.za was delighted to host the rebirthing of the Garagiste Movement. Originally established in 2002 - it has now been re-ignited with a new committee - Dr Wessel du Toit (Stellenbosch University), Dr Johann van Eck, Pierre Rabie (Giant Periwinkle Wines), Tanja Beutler (Topaz Wines), Nick Furness (Wine Machinery), Alwyn Liebenberg (Quinta del Sol & others) - and Clive Torr (not present). Clive Torr and Cathy Marshall were the original Garagistes and they are both still making great wine! As Clive used to say - 'A Garagiste is someone who has a friend with a bakkie!'
