This year saw the 100th Cape Wine Master graduating - with Anton Swarts being the 100th Cape Wine Master in South Africa. Congratulations to the 4 graduates - Anton Swarts - senior winemaker at Spier, Ivan Oertle - who has spent over 30 years working at Woolworths and now Marketing & Sales Manager at Grande Provence, Brendan Butler, who started his wine journey at the tender age of 14, now winemaker at Mount Vernon, and Francois Cillie, Marketing manager at Man Vintners.How special to have some the old Cape Wine Masters there - and to see Dave Hughes in his frail state getting up to congratulate each new Cape Wine Master brought a tear to my eye. What a legend.
