Olive Oil tasting at Tokara

Olive Oil is one of the healthiest foodie items and you really should NOT be without it!  I use tons of it, and I think it is time I had my own olive orchard.

I am however, fortunate to live close to some of the best olive oil producers in South Africa, and visiting the boutique olive press at Tokara was a treat.  They specialise in Extra Virgin and blend their own.  We took a tour through the olive cellar/press area, and the beautiful liquid gold that emanates from the press is just delicious. Spicy, green, and perfect with ciabatta, parmigiana and salt.  Of course it would have been improved by a touch of garlic!
Gert van Dyk, their Olive man, comes from beef farming stock and has become an olive oil disciple and speaks with great passion about the oils, and how good South African producers are about sharing their knowledge of the liquid gold.
I urge you to visit and test out their virgin oils at the Deli Cat Essen (just past the winery) and you can then enjoy a delicious lunch too.

With Tokara being crowned recently as the Top Producer at the Old Mutual Trophy Wine show - you can't really go wrong!
