Tokara's New Reserve Collection Vintages with a brand new MCC!

Winemaker Miles Mossop and viticulturist Aidan Morton led guests through a tasting of Tokara's newly released vintages of their black label Reserve Collection.
With firm favourites like the Director's White and Director's Red proving Tokara's exceptional quality with each new vintage, guests were also treated to the maiden release of the Méthode Cap Classique Blanc de Blanc 2011 - a bubbly which Mossop has been perfecting for the last 10 years. The MCC in its beautiful "Butterfly" bottle will be sold exclusively at Tokara at R650 per bottle.

The Reserve Collection Elgin Sauvignon Blanc 2017 and Reserve Collection Sauvignon Blanc Noble Late Harvest 2016, from Tokara's Highlands property in Elgin, seemed  to withstand the dry winters and difficult growing conditions. "Elgin seems to be buffered, delivering consistent quality wines" Mossop said. He emphasized that the most difficult harvests are the most rewarding with the winemaker working harder to produce great wines.

The Reserve Collection Stellenbosch Chardonnay 2016 and  the Reserve Collection Stellenbosch Cabernet Sauvignon 2014 from the estate's vineyards on the slopes of the Simonsberg Mountains, nearly stole the show from the impressive red and white Director's Reserve pair. The Cabernet Sauvignon 2014 is a blend of 92% Cabernet Sauvignon with 4% Merlot for elegance and red fruit and 4% Cabernet Franc added for spice. Tokara has 23 blocks of Cabernet Sauvignon on their Stellenbosch property, showing that Cabernet Sauvignon is not only a focus but also one of their strengths.
