Distell Inter Hotel Challenge 2018 Awards (Oscars) Dinner at Mt Nelson

The Oscars of the Hospitality Industry took place last night at the Ballroom at the Belmond Mount Nelson.  What a glittering and glam affair!  
Organised by Food & Wine Doyenne Annette Kesler and her partner Chania Morritt-Smith from Showcook, the Distell Inter Hotel Challenge is now in it's 6th year, and growing every year.  It is a national affair and the aim is to challenge young wine stewards and chefs to be their best and with 30 hotels across the country putting their candidates forward - quite a gruelling and taxing competition.
There are prizes galore - and the evening saw hundreds of hotel staff and guests enjoy a glamorous evening of fine dining and fine wines, at the hands of Exec Chef Rudi Liebenberg.

Congratulations to the Winning Wine Steward for 2018 - Samantha Swartz from the 12 Apostles Hotel, mentored by Food & Beverage Manager Hilton Ruch and Head Sommelier Greg Mutambe!
2nd place went to Alvezo Abrahams from The Cape Grace, and 3rd place to Axolile Pupuma from Marriott Crystal Towers

The Winning Chef for 2018 is Siya Molefe is from the One & Only Cape Town
