The best of the best at Veritas were available for tasting at the CTICC Ballroom on Tuesday 16th Oct.Wow - we are so spoilt for choice these days with South African wine quality improving in leaps and bounds every year. The hall was abuzz from the opening at 5pm - and didn;t stop all night! We headed straight for the best wine of the night - the Poncracz - MCC, which in fact won the Vertex Award. We were delighted to find the Desiderius and the JC Scintilla also had won awards so it was a while tasting through these bubbles and then discovered quite a few others which of course we needed to taste - Graham Beck, Lords, Villiera, Louisvale and I am sure there were more that we missed. The Cederberg Ghost Corner Sauvignon Blanc & Wild Ferment Sauvignon Blanc were sublime. The Paardenkloof 2013 Sauvignon Blanc was surprising as it is a 5-year old wine and still crisp, light and fresh! Then we were on to the reds - great Alto Cabernet and I must say the Tokara Cabernet was just bold, big and delicious.Such a treat to taste the best of the best.
