Armand Aucamp is a prolific South African TV, Film and Stage actor known for The Book of Negros (2014), Ballade vir 'n Enkeling(2015), Long Walk to Freedom (2013), Sterlopers(2014-), kykNET's new drama series; Boekklub and amongst others, has featured in BBC’s Mankind and in the suspenseful feature film, Eye in the Sky - by talented South African Filmmaker Gavin Hood. Armand is also a foodie and discovered banting a couple of years ago. It had such a positive impact on his health and life that he put together a really stunning banting & keto cookbook, called Armand Kook Kaal. He launched the book on Friday evening at the deliciously colourful and eclectic The Stack in Cape Town, alongside DuToitskloof wines. The book is beautifully put together. The evening revolved around canapes which Armand had designed paired with some of Du Toitskloof Wines’ more premium and less commercial wines, starting with a Middle-Eastern seed snacks and Du Toitskloof Quest MCC, followed by scrummy parmesan ''kaastjips'' matched with their Land's End Sauvignon Blanc - just delicious. Then again - give me parmesan any time of the day and I am happy! The next course was biltong balls and cream cheese matched with spicy Land's Syrah, and Halloumi-fingers with Artichoke sauce matched with their Pinotage Rose which was fresh, fruity and delicious.Sadly we had to leave at this point, and were not able to enjoy the full set of food and wine pairings, but they looked inspiring. If you are a Banter and looking for inspiration, then the book is a must. For those English-readers out there - never fear - the English version will be out mid 2019!Du Toitskloof is well-known for being connected with the arts and the interesting theatre-world, and the evening was a good match of the two.
