Something different at Hebron on the Piekenierskloof pass. Meet Grenache!

Grenache or Garnacha is one of the most widely planted red wine grape varieties in the world. It ripens late, so it needs hot, dry conditions such as those found in Spain, where the grape most likely originated. The extreme temperatures of the Piekenierskloof can range between dry, hot days to extremely cold nights which is perfect for the Grenache grape, or Garnacha as it is known in Spain.

Hebron tasting facility can be found on top of the pass, above the charming town of Citrusdal just off the N7. Less than 2-hours from Cape Town and definitely worth the visit.

Hebron tasting facility offers a unique food and wine pairing in collaboration with Caro & Steve Oldroyd who are the owners of Hebron Guest House and Restuarant.

The four unique pairings for R 120 are:

  • Grenache Blanc with baked camembert on a crostini with cranberry jus,
  • Savour fried bokkom-stuffed green olives and smoked tomato with the Grenache Rose,
  • Experience the earthy flavours of the Grenache Noir with a thyme and parmesan cheese straw dipped in a mushroom truffle
  • Lastly the flagship Heirloom Red with a beetroot Turkish delight, delicately flavoured with dark chocolate and white pepper.

Available from Wednesdays to Saturdays. To book, email Janine at admin@hebron.co.za or call +27.229212595.
