Yoli's first visit to the Wacky Wine Festival in Robertson

This past weekend I attended my first Wacky Wine Festival, which was filled with lots and lots of fun and some flavour-intense wines.

Our first stop for the weekend was the home of Chardonnay - De Wetshof Estate to taste some of the top Chardonnays of the valley. The wines were citrus driven with chalky taste which are definitely attributed to the extensive limestone in the area (hence the name LimestoneHill Chardonnay!)

After a short visit to Bonnievale Wines, we also visited Excelsior Wine Estate for the "Create Your Own Wine" from Merlot, Shiraz and Cabernet Sauvignon, where my creative skills were put to the test. I look forward to sharing my unique blend with friends.
Viljoensdrift boat cruise was one of the most amazing experiences in Robertson with views of the mountains and vineyards.

Despite the muddy and windy weather, fun was had and new friendships were made through the sharing of wine. I still can't get over the incredible view from the Bushmanspad Cottages, looking over Langeberg Mountains, with blazing fireplaces to keep us warm.

I look forward to the next festival in Robertson - thank you to all those who hosted us.
