Cape Winemakers Guild Auction 2019 in action at Spier

The Cape Winemakers Guild is like an old boys club (the boys getting a little older than the young guns they once were!), but there are a few new youngsters and women - which is good to see.

The bidding was fairly slow with new auctioneers on Saturday 5th Oct - but picked up and finally realised R9.4m+ - not too shabby in an economy under severe stress.

The highest average prices per case for red wine went to Kanonkop CWG Paul Sauer 2016 (R11 525), Boekenhoutskloof Syrah Auction Reserve 2017 (R8 900), Hartenberg CWG Auction Shiraz 2016 (R8 488).
