Winetech 2021 Senior Cellar Assistant Workshop - Vredendal

Senior cellar assistants attended a workshop on 23 September in Vredendal and learned more about South African sparkling wines and Champagne.

Rudi De Wet of Namaqua Wines facilitated the workshop and the participants learned more about the history of sparkling wines; sparkling wines of the world; the different styles; the production of South African sparkling wines, including the legal requirements to produce and bottle sparkling wines.

During the tasting a French Champagne was compared to a South African MCC and other sparkling wine styles. The senior cellar assistant workshops were presented in Stellenbosch, Wellington, Worcester, Vredendal and Upington.
