A Taste of Stellenbosch at De Warenmarkt with launch of Simon Wine Emporium

Kudos to Daniel Kriel, owner of De Warenmarkt, who recently launched the only regional based wine tasting emporium in the country, called Simon Wine Emporium, situated right in the next room in the heart of Stellenbosch. The venue has wonderful pics of the legendary Stellenbosch Winemakers lining the walls, and is perfectly situated to attract students and tourists, both local and international, and give everyone the opportunity to taste wines which originate in Stellenbosch.

70 wineries from the Stellenbosch Wine Route are currently represented, with a view to grow.  Of course not all of their wines could be represented but each winery has the opportunity to showcase 4 different wines, and the idea is that the areas represented; ie smaller routes showcase how the areas affect their wines.
The wines are for sale per glass and bottle at the premises and at Cellar Door prices through their new ecommerce store.

It is a great space to be exposed to different wines across the spectrum from close to the ocean to high on the mountains and learn about how each vineyard presents different characteristics across the Stellenbosch region.

At the launch to a few media on Thurs 5th May it was clear that it is a tasting opportunity space, and that the commercial model is in the selling of the wines online, currently for delivery in South Africa only, but explanding internationally within 6 months.
