Global wine industry pioneer and activist, Tahiirah Habibi, visited South Africa in June to launch The Hue Society’s first international chapter in partnership with Nice Beverage Company, a local black-owned beverage company that recently launched their UNFLTRD range of South African wines. Tahiirah is one of the world’s most influential wine professionals and is a long-time advocate for greater Black, Brown and indigenous representation in the global wine industry. She was selected in Wine Enthusiast Magazine’s prestigious 40 under 40 list, also gracing the cover as the first Black woman to do so. She launched the South African chapter of The Hue Society at an event in Cape Town on Wednesday 22 June at Nice Beverage Co's HQ in the upmarket St Georges Mall, Cape Town. I was lucky enough to be invited to this exclusive event along with top winemakers, journalists, industry stakeholders, and influencers. It was a fabulous evening of learning about The Hue Society, networking, and drinking great wines by local POC brands. Photos: Ashleigh Frans, Wide Wing Shoots
