On Tuesday 8 August 2023, Kleine Zalze Wines hosted media, sommeliers and other wine enthusiasts for the launch of the latest release of their Project Z range. The experimental Project Z wine range comprises five very different wines, all of which bear the unique traits of being sourced from distinctive vineyards as well as fermented and matured in clay amphora vessels. The wine range's eye-catching labels feature linocuts designed by Kleine Zalze’s team members themselves. The latest Project Z range are five wines from the 2021 vintage and comprise Chenin Blanc, Skin Contact Chenin Blanc, Riesling, Cinsault, and Syrah. We sampled these new wines in a tutored tasting led by cellarmaster RJ Botha, who shared interesting insights into the range's unique winemaking processes. Afterwards, we took a tour of the cellar, learning more about amphorae and concrete egg tanks, and enjoyed a lunch paired with the different Project Z wines.
