Sauvignon Blanc Tasting at Diemersdal Wine Estate

I was invited to join a Sauvigon Blanc tasting at Diemersdal in the Durbanville Wine Valley on Thursday 23 November. For this occasion, owner-winemaker Thys Louw hosted us at his beautiful house on the farm. We tasted Sauvignon Blanc wines from Diemersdal's own extensive range, plus two Sauvignon Blancs from France – including Domaine Didier Dagueneau Silex 2019, one of the most famous Sauvignon Blancs in the world – and one from Austria. It was so fascinating to explore the complexity of Sauvignon Blanc in this way.

After the tasting, lunch was served. We enjoyed a sumptuous seafood feast of perlemoen, galjoen, and Cape salmon prepared by the Louws. We also had delicious homemade bread, vegetables, and various salads along with it.
