The Blaauwklippen Blending Competition (BBC) has been running for 41 years. It must be the longest running blending competition in the world! I was fortunate to attend this year's competition and the lovely lunch which Blaauwklippen put on for the finalists and media in attendance on Friday 9 September 2024. The 4 finalists were: Die Dorstige Dertigs Wynproe Klub (Western Cape) Fae-Bulous Wine Club (Gauteng) Sophie’s Choice (Western Cape) VATS (Gauteng) The winning team was the Dorstige Dertigs, a very long-standing tasting group from Stellenbosch won the competition this year, after winning it last in 2000. Kudos to them and to Blaauwklippen – a beautiful 1.5L bottle of the blend is the result of this year's blending competition.
