Nederburg Reimagined: Launch of 'Yours to Explore' Campaign

Nederburg is one of South Africa's most iconic and loved brands. It would be hard to find anyone who has not enjoyed at least one bottle of Nederberg Baronne in their time.

I remember fondly when we did the Wild Coast Meander hotel-hopping hike in about 2004, a 5-day walk down the coast of the Transkei beaches. We spent the nights in very traditional, simple family-style hotels along the way, i.e. Kobb Inn, Mazeppa Bay, Wavecrest, Trenneries and Morgan's Bay – one of the best holidays ever. After a good day's trudging along soft sands, we welcomed the dinners and wine, and the one wine on every wine list was good old Nederburg Baronne! We enjoyed copious bottles, so much so that we wrote an ode to Nederburg Baronne, but sadly our old handwritten ode did not stand the test of time.

Having Nederburg available at so many places, both local and abroad, is exactly what Nederburg is celebrating even more now with their updated look and new travel cloth. It represents 234 years of Nederburg, highlighting all the influences on the brand: The hot air balloon, sun, crown (the new one it is wearing now), anchor, and bees (focus on sustainability and biodiversity).

Changing a classic brand like Nederburg takes guts and imagination. At the launch event of the new look, Nederburg proved that they're painting the town RED! The beautiful manor house and old cellar were lit up by bold red lighting, showcasing the bold move into the new era of Nederburg. It is still one of SA's iconic brands and looks set to continue this legacy for many decades to come.
