Charles is such a gentleman. He is also a great salesman, and this was apparent at his very personal farewell at the Darling Museum recently, as he was handing over the keys of his beloved Darling Wine Shop and cute "Red Red Wine" Fiat 500 to Christelle van der Vyver, the new owner of both. The delicious brownies which Charles' wife Janet had made were the last to go at the snack table, but after Charles let everyone know, there was nothing left. And, you felt you had won something, not that he had sold you something. The sign of a great salesman! I have known Charles for many years, and he always reminds me of driving up to Backsberg in my little red VW Citigolf many many years ago, trying to get wineries on board at wine.co.za, probably before the turn of the century. Wonderful memories. Charles started the Darling Wine Shop in 2011, with a much involved community. It is testament to Charles that he has built such a lovely connected community that supports him and the Darling Wine Shop and we wish Christelle all the best for the future, while Charles relaxes with his beloved Voorkamer VSOP Cape Brandy!
