The Du Bois family of Du Bois Vineyards hosted the launch event of the 2025 vintage of Du Bois Vineyards Sonop Chenin Blanc on Wednesday, 10 June 2026 on their family farm, Sonop, outside Stellenbosch. They invited a select group of media and trade to celebrate the release of the latest vintage of their old vine Chenin Blanc. Our hosts were Gabriël "Gawie" du Bois Snr, patriarch and patron, and his two sons, Gabriël du Bois Jnr, fourth-generation winemaker, and Jacques du Bois, farm manager. After being welcomed with wine and sourdough bread in front of the manor house, we were taken on bakkies to the summit of Sonop Farm, surrounded by vineyards and panoramic views of the region. Here, the brothers told us the story of the farm, the vineyards, and, of course, the wine itself as we enjoyed the first taste of the incredible Du Bois Vineyards Sonop Chenin Blanc 2025. Tasting the wine among the vineyards from which it's made was truly an enlightening experience. Afterwards, we were treated to a generous, leisurely family-style lunch at the magnificent viewpoint, catered by the Hygge Hygge eatery in Stellenbosch. Dishes included Cape Malay inspired citrus spice chicken, crispy potatoes, pearl cous cous and roasted pumpkin, hasselback beetroot, and fresh green salad.
