I have no idea how the PYDA (Pinotage Youth Development Academy) managed to get a big group of nearly 50 students through their Wine Marketing course during 2021 - they all deserve massive medals. Trying to cope with normal life, learning, teaching, studying etc during the 2nd year of COVID was no easy task. So their graduation at Delvera in October 2021 was extra special. We had already had experience with one of the students, Mlondolozi Frank Mketo, who had done some of his work placement with us at wine.co.za, and he has since joined our team as our PYDA intern. We offer a 12 month internship for a graduate annually, and Mlondolozi has shown such great dedication and commitment as he has been standing in for our Shop manager Suheena who is away on maternity leave, that we feel that he is already part of the wine.co.za family. Leroy Matthee was our 2021 intern and he was fortunate to be with us for 2020 and 2021 as Covid really put a spanner in the works - and he spent his time mostly working from home managing content for our wineries. Of course cool socks are a theme (and very high heels for the young women!) and they did not disappoint! Congratulations to the 2021 graduates - you are all champs!
