We welcomed 6 wineries who have cracked the nod to be WWF Conservation Champions at a tasting at The Wine Glass in Stellenbosch last week. It was very inspiring to hear about their regenerative and sustainable farming practices and I can really urge you to visit them to learn about their work. There are now 60 WWF Conservation Champions and they occupy the top of the global leader board in terms of sustainably produced wine. All 60 champions’ credentials are underscored by South Africa’s IPW scheme, having achieved 70% or more in their IPW audit and their conservation principles are under the stewardship of the WWF. We welcomed Boland Cellar (Paarl), De Grendel (Cape Town), GlenWood Vineyards (Franschhoek), Hartenberg (Stellenbosch), Lomond Wine Estate (Walker Bay/Agulhas), and PaardenKloof Estate (Bot River). The delicious canapes from The Wine Glass paired beautifully with the wines. I will certainly return to try more of their tapas! Keep an eye on all things WWF Conservation Champions HERE.
