Soaring with eagles at Arendsig

What a treat being at a tasting at the farmy Arendsig just outside Bonnievale. The farm is a 5th generation wine farm and the current winemaker incumbent/owner is the very relaxed and confident Lourens van der Westhuizen.  His old school mate, Colyn Truter, has been marketing the wines for years now and we were taken through a flight of older and younger vintages of white and reds and they were all so incredibly well-rounded and fresh and delicious, attributable I think to much time on the lees and hardly any wood. The wines are all Single Vineyard Wines, with some coming from blocks not on the farm - but still have to meet Lourens' eagle eye! They all get the same attention to detail and in fact, very little interference. It shows on the wines!
After our tasting, a banquet awaited us outside the old cellar, where we were hosted by Lourens' wife Lizelle and it really was a feast for kings and queens! Thank you to caterers DI Doms @ Plum Kitchen.
