Stellenbosch Wine Festival in the rain!

The Western Cape is having its toughest dry spell ever, the drought of the century, so it was with mixed feelings that we had a rather wet Stellenbosch Wine Festival.  Everyone was delighted with the cool liquid which came down and dampened things a bit, but I am sure it did have an effect.

My team members and I had some delicious brat wurst from Lanzerac's classic stand.  There was some excellent jazz by top musicians, and I spotted the pianist Ramon Alexander on stage, who in fact trained as a winemaker in his youth!

There was an interesting mix of people there on Friday and with the rain staying away on Saturday, I am sure it was a great success.

It must be a tough time for the wineries to participate in such a big festival, as it is right in the middle of harvest and wonder if it wouldn't be better to have this festival after harvest, perhaps end April or early May?
