Distell Inter Hotel Challenge 2018: Grape To Glass at Alto Estate

The Grape to Glass, held every year in May, is an integral part of the Distell Inter Hotel Challenge, an exclusive opportunity for all our Wine Stewards in every possible way giving them the inspiration to take them forward in their chosen careers. For the 28 Wine Stewards from all over South Africa their three day visit to the Cape was not all work and no play! Besides having to write the Cape Wine Academy exam based on what they had learned at the Orientation in March followed by the further lectures at the CTICC, they learned about coffee and the making of a perfect cup. Their days included summiting our iconic Table Mountain, a workshop on the art of making scintillating cocktails, a visit to the superb Van Ryn’s Distillery, where they were introduced to the world of brandy and whisky with informative talks and tastings. Finally, they enjoyed cellar tours and most importantly lunch with the winemakers at their chosen wine estates. All in all they were an immensely valuable three days.
