The Business of Wine and Food Tourism Conference was held at Spier again - always a great venue - as there is parking, the food is excellent and it is in the winelands! The conference was held on one day only (compared to last year which was over 2 days) - which I think was a great decision as time is precious The day was was very dense and full of useful content. Conferences can never please everyone but I must say I found that 80% of it was useful to me and chatting with others, the feelings were much the same. From Big Data analysis by Enolytics Co-Founder Cathy Hughye who has 15 years of journalism experience, who showed a number of examples of using big data effectively, to Joe Public (best Ad Agency of the year) MD Khutala Gala-Holton, who made it clear that as a wine industry we need to change some of our marketing imagery to make us more accessible to the black market. Marisah Nieuwoudt - the VinPro Wine Tourism Manager - reported on the extensive work she has been doing analysing research to get an idea of tourism numbers.Well done to Margi Biggs for an interesting variety of presentations - something for everyone. The day was ended off with a tasting of some Old Vine Project wines. #WFConf2018
