The first festival of the Black Cellar Club - #BLACCFEST - was held over on Sat 10th & Sunday 11th Nov at the Guga Sthebe Arts & Entertainment centre in Langa, one of Cape Town's townships. I have been to the venue before and is a perfect spot for this kind of festival. It is relatively small so it limits the numbers, but it also provides various nooks and crannies to be filled with people, food trucks, wine stands and live music. The festival was superbly organised - classy, just the right number of wineries - excellent bubbles from Graham Beck, Villiera, Steenberg and Pongracz, and well supported by Distell's wine brands and the SA Brandy Foundation, where I tasted the heavenly 10-year old Avontuur Brandy!Good to see new brands like Kumusha and Mosi wines by rock-star sommeliers Tinashe Nyamudoka and Joseph Dhafana. Both of them represented TeamZim at the World Blind Wine tasting championships recently in France. The festival was a blast - one of the best I have attended. Don't miss it next year!
