Kunjani Wines - Bold, contemporary and well worth a visit

I love red - so I was delighted that the invitation to the Kunjani relaunch recommended a touch of red for their dress code.

Kunjani Wines is situated on the Devon Vale road (not accessible from JC le Roux or Devon Valley) and is one of Stellenbosch's more recent additions to the wine world.  They offer not only wines made by Carmen Stevens, the first black female wine-maker in South Africa, but also accommodation and delicious food from their restaurant by the very gorgeous Head Chef Lamek Mnisi.
The building and interior are bold and contemporary, grey, black and red and the setting in the (currently autumnal) vineyards with a lovely sunny north-facing stoep.

We were treated to a variety of delicious canape snacks served at various tables at which the wines in their new finery were served. I must say the delightful new fun wine and label called Stolen Chicken got my vote matched both visually and taste-wise, with the smoked salmon!  And the Merlot in the classic grey dappled and gold-embossed label matched beautifully with the pork belly bite.

Influencers, trade, winemakers, marketers, wine route officers, bloggers, media and friends joined owners Pia Watermeyer and Paul Barth in a celebration of their new labels which are really classy and contemporary.
Do yourself a favour and visit them for lunch - just 10 minutes outside Stellenbosch you can relax, sip away and enjoy the bounty of Kunjani.
