Very Special Tim Atkin tasting of the 95+ point wines at Westin Hotel in Cape Town

UK Master of Wine,Tim Atkin, has made a significant impact in raising the profile of the South African Wine industry,
He thinks that South Africa is the most exciting wine-making country in the world at the moment, and that as South Africans, we should stop doubting ourselves and be proud and confident, as our wines are brilliant!

He has been visiting South Africa off and on for 20 years. His first South African Wine was a La Motte Shiraz made by Jacques Bormans, and it is rather special that his son Reenan Bormans of Boschkloof was awarded Red Wine of the Year for his Epilogue Syrah!

At the tasting held on Friday 13th Sept at the Westin Hotel, all 161 wines which were allocated 95 points and above were available for tasting - and what a special tasting it was!

He also awarded certificates to some of the top producers - with a very special Wine Legend of the Year going to Gyles Webb of Thelema.

Well done to all - let's celebrate the successes!
