Michelangelo International Wine and Spirits Awards 2020

The Michelangelo International Wine & Spirits Awards presented 24 trophies to the top producers in the 2020 awards at the Grande Roche Hotel in Paarl.  The award for the highest scoring entry went to Franschhoek producer Chamonix for their outstanding 2018 Chardonnay.

Windmeul Kelder senior winemaker, Berto Dippenaar, received the Airlink Pinotage Trophy






The Chenin Blanc Trophy, sponsored by Kuehne & Nagel, was awarded to Under Oaks Chenin Blanc 2019
Hector McBeth of John Distilleries was awarded the Michelangelo Whisky Trophy for the third year
Isabel Huxter, Ann Claughton and Sue Harper of L-Gin Craft Gin
Charles Hopkins, Cellar Master at De Grendel, received this year’s Kuehne & Nagel Pinot Noir Trophy
Gert van Deventer of Aan de Doorns Wine Cellar, with the Multi Color Corporation Grand Prix Trophy
Dewaldt Heyns, winemaker at Saronsberg Cellar, took the Airlink Shiraz trophy
Bertho van der Westhuizen received the Cabernet Sauvignon Trophy, sponsored by Tsogo Sun Hotels
Elre Potgieter receives this year’s Museum Class Trophy for the Boplaas Cape Vintage Reserve 2004
Diemersdal assistant winemaker, Janneke Beck with this year’s Sauvignon Blanc trophy
Danielle Schoeman of Doña Distillery in Cape Town received two accolades for her low alcohol spirits
