Senior cellar assistants attended a workshop on 23 June at Neethlingshof, Stellenbosch and learned more about South African sparkling wines and Champagne. Elzette du Preez facilitated the workshop and the participants learned more about the history of sparkling wines of the world; the different styles of sparkling wines; production of South African sparkling wines and the legal requirements to produce and bottle sparkling wines. During the tasting a French Champagne was compared to South African MCC and other South African sparkling wine styles. These workshops will also be presented in Vredendal, Upington, Wellington and Worcester.
