Visit to Allée Bleue

On a rare day of sunshine and blue sky in the very wet winter we are having, we had the pleasure of visiting Allée Bleue in Franschhoek, where we were warmly received by the hospitable staff. We enjoyed cappuccinos by the fireplace while awaiting a meeting with the newly appointed CEO, Edo Heyns.

We took a tour around the farm with farm manager Douw avoiding puddles all over.  Douw has been at the farm for 18 years and knows each plant intimately! There is a wide diversity of plantings, with a big focus on herbs - grown in their tunnels and also have 30+ hectares of persimmon orchards and plenty of plums too.

The lemon trees were bountiful and we even spotted two blue cranes - after all - it is Allée Bleue.
