Zevenwacht Wine Estate was recognised as a WWF Conservation Champion in May 2025. In celebration, the Bottelary Hills Renosterveld Conservancy (BHRC) and Zevenwacht hosted a gathering on Thursday, 29 May 2025 on the wine farm, inviting media guests to learn more about their conservation work and explore the farm. The event commenced with talks and presentations during which we learned about the conservation efforts of the BHRC, Cape Leopard Trust, Discover Renosterveld, and Zevenwacht. Thereafter, we embarked on a tour with All Terrain 4x4, seeing the estate's vineyards and renosterveld fynbos as well as the old tin mines for which the estate is known, built in the early 1900s by the British upon discovering alluvial tin deposits in the ground. We concluded the gathering with a wine tasting and platters in the Zevenwacht Tasting Room with winemaker Charles Lourens, owner Denise Johnson, and shop manager Tracey Johnson.
