The results of the 2025 Next Generation Awards, sponsored by special risks insurance brand iTOO and convened by Winemag.co.za, were announced at an awards ceremony on Friday, 20 June 2025 at The Vineyard Hotel in Newlands, Cape Town. This competition aims to identify South Africa’s emerging young winemaking talent under 35 years of age. Barbara Melck, the winemaker at Reyneke Wines, was the star of the day. She won the award for the best wine overall with her Reyneke Sauvignon Blanc 2024, as well as the first runner-up award for her Reyneke Syrah 2023. Click HERE for the press release and results.
