As part of Stellenbosch Garden Town 2025, the Bottelary Hills Renosterveld Conservancy (BHRC) invited me to join them on Friday, 31 October 2025 and experience their newest offering for wine lovers: the Bottelary Hills 4x4 Wine Adventure. Aboard a vintage 4x4 truck, we went on a wine tour of the Bottelary Hills conservancy area and stopped at three family-owned farms: Kaapzicht Wine Estate, Mooiplaas Wine Estate, and Zevenwacht Wine Estate. At each farm, they treated us to specially crafted wine tastings and platters. At Kaapzicht, we explored a flight of six wines (three Chenin Blancs, a rosé, and two Pinotages) with a cheese platter. Next, we hopped off at Mooiplaas, where we tasted four distinct wines from the Roos Family Range – Sauvignon Blanc, Chenin Blanc, Pinotage and Cabernet Sauvignon – served with olives and crackers. The final stop was Zevenwacht Wine Estate. Here, we sarvoured a bilton and wine pairing: Four Estate wines were carefully paired with four different types of biltong and droëwors.
