Barton Vineyards is just outside Bot River and recently under new ownership. I had never been there, so visited recently and was delighted to find a charming tasting room overlooking the vineyards, with the back leading straight into the cellar. Just as we arrived, their winemaker - Dewald xxx popped out of the cellar with a glass of cloudy pink wine - freshly pressed Merlot. It was delicious and such a treat to experience it. As the harvest arrived early throughout most of the winelands, Bot River was not exempt and so was pressing Merlot already.Barton also have 5 villas/guest houses to relax and stay over at, so next time you have a group event - give them a shout.
