The South African Cap Classique Challenge, sponsored and supported by Amorim Cork for 25 years, was held on Wed 16th Sept at La Petite Colombe at Leeu Wine Estate in Franschhoek, South Africa. Emile Joubert has been connected with the Cap Classique Challenge for many years, and was the knowledgable and passionate host of the day.As could be expected, each delicious course was beautifully curated and prepared by the extensive team at La Petite Colombe, accompanied by the top bubblies in the country. Certainly a treat on the calendar!Sparkling wine is the one category which has not shown a decline in consumption or exports and our Cap Classique continues to show its quality and worth across the globe. We were honoured to have the chairman of Amorim, Antonio Amorim at the event, and celebrated the 25 years of their support of the category, and Emile and Tim Hoek from Haute Cabriere also presented the MD of Amorim South Africa, Joaquim Sá, with a large 9-litre bottle of Haute Cabriere bubbly for recognition of his consistent support of the industry. Amorim must be one of the world's oldest family-owned businesses, founded in 1870!
